How does the email opt-in work?

Toggle 'Email me a copy' in Settings → Daily Brief & AI. Defaults to the email associated with your Apple ID; you can override with any email on your contact card. The morning send is an HTML email rendered by the same brief-builder that generates the in-app surface, with each item linked to its in-app deep destination via Universal Links. Tap a contradiction in the email and the iPhone opens directly to that contradiction in Truth Layer.

Can I see what's currently in my brief?

Yes. Settings → Notifications & AI → 'View today's brief' opens the DailyBriefView surface anytime — independent of whether the morning push has fired yet. Or add the Daily Brief widget (small or medium) to your home screen for an at-a-glance count of open items.

What does 'Run' vs 'Notify' mean per feature?

Run controls whether the backend AI scanner touches your data at all for that feature — required for Apple 5.1.2(i) compliance and the strongest opt-out story. Notify controls whether successful scans become brief items. Turning Run off automatically disables Notify too. So 'Dating Analysis with Run off' means Bonfiyah never sends that conversation's text to Anthropic; 'Promise Ledger with Run on but Notify off' means it still mines promises but doesn't ping you about them.

Daily Brief

Q: Why a Daily Brief instead of individual pings?

When the AI finds 5 contradictions in the same legal thread on the same morning, you don't want 5 separate red-banner notifications — you want one ping that says 'today's brief has 5 items, here's the most important one.' The Daily Brief surface batches everything that's not strictly critical and gives you a single review screen with check-off / snooze / dismiss controls per item. The 1-critical-ping-per-day cap is enforced cohort-wide so iPhone + iPad don't double up.

Every notification candidate the proactive scanner generates — overdue promises (Critical tier), due-today action items (Standard), friday wraps, fresh contradictions, pre-brief reminders for upcoming meetings, topic-cooling alerts, speaker-missing alerts. You control which features land via Settings → Notifications & AI's per-feature Run/Notify toggles.

The problem it solves

When Truth Layer detects five contradictions in the same legal thread within the same hour, the previous behaviour was five separate "Contradiction detected" notifications — each one a full-banner red interruption. The right behaviour is one notification: "today's brief has 5 items, here's the headline; tap to triage." That's the Daily Brief.

Critical-tier candidates get one immediate ping per cohort per day. Everything else queues into the brief surface and surfaces at your configured delivery hour (default 8am local). Snoozed items resurface; checked-off items disappear; dismissed items don't come back.

Per-feature Run + Notify toggles

Settings → Notifications & AI carries 13 per-feature switches. Each feature has two toggles:

Run — whether the AI scanner touches your data at all for this feature. Off means the backend never sends that conversation's text to Anthropic / OpenAI for this feature's inference. Required for Apple 5.1.2(i) compliance.
Notify — whether successful scans become brief items. Run off automatically disables Notify.

Dating Analysis defaults to off (sensitive feature, opt-in per use). Everything else defaults to on, but every toggle is one tap from any screen with the iPhone Settings → Notifications & AI deep link.

Lock-screen + Dynamic Island + widget surfaces

The brief shows up everywhere a glance happens:

Lock-screen visibility

iOS doesn't let an app force lock-screen previews — that's a system setting (iOS Settings → Notifications → Bonfiyah → Show Previews). What Bonfiyah can control is the interruption level. Wake me for the brief sets the morning push to .timeSensitive so it breaks through Focus and DND. Combined with system Show Previews → Always, you see the brief on your lock screen at 8am without unlocking.
