U.S. Provisional Patent Applications · filed 2026

Patent Pending

Five inventions. Patent pending.

The cross-recording reasoning layer that makes Bonfiyah feel different from a transcription app is built on five inventions Bonfiyah, Inc. filed with the USPTO on 2026-05-31. Each one is the substrate for an AI surface no other app in the category has shipped.

The five inventions, in order of application number.

Provisional application numbers are listed for each. The non-provisional filings will be made within twelve months of the priority date.

⚖️

Truth Layer

Patent Pending

Cross-recording contradiction detection.

Catches when something said today contradicts something said weeks ago — across recordings, across speakers, across projects. Surfaces the contradiction before the next meeting so it can be addressed in the room, not after.

Why it's novel

Existing transcription apps treat each recording as an island. Bonfiyah's Truth Layer is the first commercial system to perform commitment-tracking and contradiction detection across an arbitrary number of speaker-stable recordings in a private library, with quote provenance preserved on both sides of the contradiction.

Speaker Resolution

Patent Pending

One identity per person across every recording.

Speaker A in Tuesday's standup is the same Speaker A in Friday's customer call. Voice ID stabilizes across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iCloud as a linked cohort — and an on-device per-utterance correction pass catches hybrid speaker labels automatically.

Why it's novel

Every Bonfiyah surface that reasons across recordings — People Memory, Speaker Insights, Pre-Brief, Truth Layer, Promise Tracker — depends on a stable speaker identity. The Speaker Resolution layer is the substrate that makes those surfaces possible. Competitors using per-recording diarization cannot deliver any of them.

No-APNs Notifications

Patent Pending

Proactive pings scheduled entirely on-device.

Quote-driven pings — overdue promises, fresh contradictions, cooling topics, silent collaborators — scheduled on-device with three tiers and daily caps. No Apple Push Notification service round-trip. Tap a notification, arrive at the exact recording moment.

Why it's novel

Bypassing APNs preserves privacy (Apple never sees the notification payload) and removes the silent-failure mode every APNs-dependent app suffers from. The scheduling system is calibrated against a tier ladder so high-signal alerts displace low-signal ones rather than spamming the lock screen.

Consent / Attorney-Client & Doctor-Patient Privilege markings

Patent Pending

A tiered consent + privilege model.

Mark a speaker — or a whole conversation — as privileged, and pick the type. Red banner on emails and PDFs (ATTORNEY-CLIENT or DOCTOR-PATIENT PRIVILEGE — CONFIDENTIAL), matching subject prefix, audit log entry. Two-party consent capture with state-by-state law guidance and automatic verbal-consent detection.

Why it's novel

No competitor in the category exposes a structured privilege model. The Bonfiyah implementation makes the legal posture machine-readable (so exports, search, and AI summaries respect the marking), and the tiered consent model meets two-party-consent statutes in every U.S. jurisdiction simultaneously.

Silent Fallback

Patent Pending

Server-signaled on-device transcription fallback for uninterrupted capture.

When the upstream transcription provider degrades — rate limits, regional outages, network flakiness — Bonfiyah seamlessly falls back to on-device transcription without dropping the recording, without alerting the user mid-meeting, and without producing two transcript styles in the same file.

Why it's novel

Most cloud-transcription apps either stop recording or surface a disruptive error when their backend degrades. Silent Fallback is the first commercial implementation that bridges between cloud and on-device transcription engines mid-recording with continuous stylistic output, preserving the user's attention for the conversation in front of them.

What "patent pending" means here.

Under 35 U.S.C. §292, "patent pending" notice indicates that a U.S. patent application — provisional or non-provisional — has been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The notice does not, on its own, grant exclusive rights; it puts the public and any would-be infringer on notice that exclusive rights are being pursued.

Bonfiyah, Inc. filed the five provisional applications listed above on 2026-05-31. The corresponding non-provisional applications will be filed within twelve months of the priority date, in accordance with 35 U.S.C. §111(b)(5).

The "Patent Pending" badge that appears on individual feature surfaces across the Bonfiyah site links back to this page. The five-application list above is canonical; if a surface carries the badge, it is one of these five.
