The Costa & McCrae (1992) mapping bridges Big Five to MBTI dimensions: Extraversion ↔ E/I, Openness ↔ N/S, Agreeableness ↔ T/F, Conscientiousness ↔ J/P. Voice-only signal: pacing, question-vs-statement ratio, energy in group dynamics. The estimate sharpens as more recordings accrue.

What does the pair-detail view show?

Tap any cell in the 9-box compatibility heatmap and you get a card with three subsection blocks: what energizes this pair, where they butt heads, and the bridge move (one specific behavioural ask of each person). The card is templated by tier — same band, same advice — so the same pair always reads the same way when you reopen the app.

What are the six compatibility tiers?

Soulmate (9–10): finishes each other's sentences. Easy Match (7–8): different gears, same direction. Stretch Pair (5–6): real friction, real growth if both lean in. Hard Pair (3–4): needs a translator. Not on Speaking Terms (1–2): different operating systems entirely. Score thresholds are pinned in the iOS app's compatibility service so the website and app always agree.

Does Bonfiyah use AI to generate the per-pair advice?

No. The strengths, friction points, and bridge move for each pair are templated by tier and behavioural axis — same band produces the same advice, deterministically. We deliberately use templated text rather than per-pair AI generation so the same pair always reads the same way when you reopen the app. Stability matters more than personalization for a compatibility surface.

Why MBTI when academics critique its reliability?

Two reasons. First, MBTI is the framework most users already understand — you don't need to teach them what 'ENTP' means. Second, Bonfiyah surfaces both the MBTI band AND the underlying Big Five trait scores in the iOS app, so users can drill from the simple summary to the empirical traits. The MBTI view is a communication framework over the Big Five data, not a replacement for it.

Does any of this leave my device?

Big Five inference, MBTI letter derivation, and pair-tier scoring are processed on Bonfiyah's backend via Anthropic's Claude under a no-training commercial contract — your transcript text is analyzed for the scoring, never used to train any model, and your raw audio is deleted from our servers within 7 days. We picked MBTI because it's the framework most people already recognize by name — you don't need to teach a reader what "ENTP" means. Calling Tony Stark an ENTP shortcuts a paragraph of explanation.
